IAWF greets new board members, officers

At the end of each year, members of the International Association of Wildland Fire's Board of Directors retire from their terms serving the membership. The IAWF would like to thank the following directors for their service and dedication:

  • Janice Coen, National Center for Atmospheric Research, Colorado;

  • Gary Morgan, Bushfire Cooperative Research Centre, Victoria, Australia;

  • Bill Sommers, George Mason University, Virginia;

  • Ann Walker, Western Governors' Association, Colorado.

The incoming directors are:

  • David Ganz, The Nature Conservancy Climate Change Group, Oakland, Calif.;

  • Alan Goodwin, Department of Sustainability and Environment, Bendingo, Australia;

  • David Moore, Glendale (Ohio) Fire Department;

  • Ron Steffens, Green Mountain College, Vermont.

In addition, Kris Johnson has been elected to replace Bill Sommers as IAWF vice president. Johnson works with the Government of the Northwest Territories, Environment and Natural Resources, Forest Management Division, Canada. Kevin Ryan of the U.S. Forest Service Fire Sciences Laboratory in Missoula, Mont., is the new IAWF secretary.
