Dr. Marty Alexander, a member of the IAWF board of directors, has received the 2010 Canadian Forestry Achievement Award presented by the Canadian Institute of Forestry. This award, which recognizes unique and outstanding achievement in forestry in Canada, was established in 1967 and has the objective of encouraging excellence in the forestry profession. The award will be presented to Alexander at the 2010 CIF Awards Banquet in Jasper, Alberta, on Sept. 27.
Alexander, a 34-year veteran with the Canadian Forest Service, is a senior fire behavior research officer stationed at the Northern Forestry Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. He is also an adjunct professor of wildland fire science and management in the Department of Renewable Resources and Alberta School of Forest Science and Management at the University of Alberta.
