To better facilitate communication between readers and the Wildfire Editorial Advisory Board, the board is developing an official Web site. Visit www.weab.iawfonline.org to stay current on developing content, make suggestions and upload manuscripts. An author's page will assist new authors, as well as longtime contributors. The board hopes this Web site will become the hub for content development and create an online community for readers.
In February, the board will post an online survey to help guide upcoming issue content. There will be a link to the survey on the welcome page. Participation in the short survey will help the board better serve readers.
The board also is developing partnerships with wildland organizations to provide contributions that are pertinent to current issues. Most notable to date is a collaborative effort between board member Bequi Livingston and Tod Schimelpfenig, the curriculum director of the Wilderness Medicine Institute of the National Outdoor Leadership School, which provides information on wilderness medicine in wildland firefighting.
The wildfire environment spans the globe, and the board recognizes this and is actively recruiting submissions from the international community. This issue features a piece from IAWF Board Member Gary Morgan from Australia, and future articles will highlight strategies and tactics from France and Greece. Board member Sandy Williams serves as international liaison and will facilitate submissions from authors abroad.
