The International Association of Wildland Fire announced several changes for 2012, including a change in leadership with the retirement of Chuck Bushey who has been the association president since 2007.
Bushey has reached the presidential term limits expressed by the association's bylaws and will be replaced by Dan Bailey. Bailey is executive director for national and international programs dealing with wildland fire, natural resource as well as environmental and natural hazard programs for the International Code Council. He also has been an association board member since 2007.
The new IAWF treasurer is David Moore, chief of the Glendale, Ohio Fire Department, who has been a board member since 2010. In addition, Thomas Zimmerman has been selected as the newest IAWF board member. Zimmerman recently retired from the Wildland Fire Management RD&A where he was the program manager.
In other news, the conference proceedings are complete for the 11th International Wildland Fire Safety Summit held in April in Missoula, Mont. Attendees should receive a CD in the mail shortly. For non-attendees, CDs are available for $25 by e-mailing Executive Director Mikel Robinson.
