Karen McHale, a certified expert in wildfire management, is making sure that more people learn how to prepare for emergencies. She has led government-related units in preparing for terrorist attacks, planning for a pandemic and overseeing logistics at wildfires. Now she is promoting and distributing her new book and training program for kids, Fire Station Buddies: The Pact.
The book is catching fire, so to speak. Judyth Piazza recently interviewed McHale on “The American Perspective,” a national radio program intended to inspire and help people foster success.
The August 2010 issue of Professional Safety, the Journal of the American Society of Safety Engineers, included an article about McHale's book. And it is gaining popularity among the “mommy bloggers”; Miracle Momas bloggers are reading the book for review and will give away 10 copies to subscribers. The Responsibility Project (www.responsibilityproject.org), “exploring what it means to do the right thing,” interviewed McHale for its website.
The book and training materials are available only at www.firestationbuddies.com. Proceeds will support volunteer fire departments across the country.
