The water-enhancing fire suppressant FireIce breaks the fire triangle by adhering to the fuel, rapidly cooling the heat source and suffocating the fuel from its oxygen. Tested to U.S. Forest Service Specifications 5100-306A, the suppressant is non-corrosive to fire apparatus, nontoxic to mammals, and has no oily residues to make cleanup quick and easy, according to the manufacturer. One 25-pound bucket of the fine powder additive requires only water to create 250 gallons of firefighting gel.
